The treatment

Warm oil, slow hands, and no clock.

A traditional Khmer oil treatment is a ritual practised in Cambodia for generations: a warming body oil, applied by hand with long, slow strokes, from the feet up. It is one method, done the same way for every guest, and it takes as long as it takes.

How a visit goes

  1. We call the day beforeTo confirm the time, ask which room you would like to use, and answer any questions. If a son or daughter made the booking, we are happy to call them too.
  2. We arrive with everythingFresh linens, warm towels, the oil, and a small warmer. We need a chair or a bed and a plug socket. Nothing in your home is moved.
  3. You settle inWear whatever is comfortable. You stay covered with a warm sheet throughout, and only the part being worked on is uncovered. Your therapist will check the pressure with you as she goes.
  4. A full hourSlow, even strokes with warm oil. Most guests close their eyes. Some talk; most drift. There is no hurry and no clock in the room.
  5. AfterwardTake your time getting up. Your skin will feel calm and comfortable, and the oil is left to soak in rather than wiped away. We tidy everything and leave you to your afternoon.

The oil

A traditional Khmer body oil, made in Cambodia and used in our treatment only. It is warmed before it touches your skin, and it is deeply moisturising: guests often notice how soft their skin feels the next morning.

We do not sell the oil, and we do not make claims about what it does. What we can tell you is what the treatment feels like, and we would rather show you.

Who it is for

  • Adults of any age. Most of our guests are in their seventies and eighties.
  • Gentle enough for thin, mature skin.
  • Performed by a Florida licensed massage therapist, every time.
  • The same treatment for every guest. We do not tailor it to a medical condition, and we are not able to advise on one. If you have a health concern, please ask your doctor whether a massage treatment is right for you.
